Opposition Leader Bill Shorten is set to release his highly anticipated policy costings on Friday.

Economist Dr Brian Fisher, who released an economic modelling report, concludes Labor’s targets could slash $264 billion from the economy by 2030 but could burn a hole as great as $542 billion, depending on rules that would allow companies to buy international carbon credits to offset their obligations. In the lead up to the announcement, Shadow Treasurer Chris Bowen is expected to announce about $7 billion over four years in extra taxes on the distributions from family trusts.
