Breaking: At least six people have been wounded in a shooting at Saugus High School when a gunman opened fire on the Santa Clarita campus in California, authorities said.

At least six people have been wounded when a gunman opened fire at a high school in Santa Clarita, a city north of Los Angeles, authorities say.

The shooting was reported at Saugus High School just before 8am on Thursday, local time, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.Television footage from the scene showed teenagers walking in a line behind armed law enforcement officials with their arms raised in the air. Several students were placed on guernseys and taken to ambulances in the school’s parking lot.

Authorities are searching for a suspect described as a 15-year-old boy wearing a black hat and black clothing, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Seagus High School and all schools in the William S Hart district were placed on lockdown while authorities flooded the scene.
