A Blaxland High School teacher will face court on Wednesday over the alleged unlawful sexual touching of a student.
David Leishman, 49, was arrested at his Katoomba home last Friday following an investigation by the Blue Mountains local area command into allegations that a teacher had sexually touched a female student on the school grounds on a number of occasions. He was taken to Katoomba police station and charged with procuring a child for unlawful sexual activity, aggravated indecent assault while the victim is under the alleged offender's authority, and three counts of aggravated sexual touching.
Mr Leishman was granted bail by Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday and is due to appear in Katoomba Local Court on Wednesday."We're all mates too. I can tell these guys off, and slap them on the back and tell them 'well done' as well. The friendships are genuine, down from Year 12 to the youngest student," he said.
The arrest comes several months after the unrelated arrest of a Katoomba High teacher on six charges of sexual assault.
