Sydneysider Zarlasht Sarwari was born and raised in Australia but feels very connected to what's happening in Afghanistan.Members of Sydney's Afghan community say the Australian government has a moral obligation to help those at risk
Growing up, she watched the war playing out on TV — something she is determined to shield her own family from."I don't want him to see all that footage — I don't want him to associate his family's homeland with a place of war."
The word Moral has no place in national politics
moral obligation?
The Afghanistan people need take responsibility too, after 20 years foreign help it should have been different ?
we have zero moral obligation to afghanistan. the west has spent 20 years attempting to drag it out of the stoneage only to find it is an impossible task. next time the taliban harbours terrorist just carpet bomb the damn place with fae's
Yep, these two look completely shattered!
We fulfilled our moral obligation for 20 years, losing some of our own along the way. An entire generation of women could go to school and an entire generation of men were taught to fight.
Maybe they should question their countrymen of the 300,000 strong well equipped army which outnumbered the Taliban by 10 to 1 why they fled without firing a shot and left their women & children in the hands of the Taliban.
Narendra Modi’s recently passed a bill in Indian parliament that allows Afghans of all religions except Muslims to seek refuge in India. Perhaps Afghan men could consider a change of religion for a better life
no one is in danger back home yet don't panic lucky you here ... we don't want half Afghanistan to land in Australia you people have to fight if don't like TALIBANS how you do that if you run away stay there fight you political war from INSIDE your country not my
Afghanistan has a moral obligation to not harbour & abet religious terrorists.
Nobody who follows history will be surprised of how things have turned out in Afghanistan. It's a country that's unique and has never been conquered. The situations evolve and life 'for a better term' goes on. Always has and always will !
Nope
Is it the obligation of Australian taxpayers to fund these refugees? If the US started the war, please send them to the US.
Australia built schools, health care centres and other infrastructure, that Afghanis due to their “culture “ didn’t use some of the facilities as in children not allowed to attend school, women not allowed to attend health care centres Moral obligation 😂 No morals in Afghans
I thought this was where your family called home. Yes I would like to see Australia helping if ppl in Afghanistan want and need it. I think as ppl we should feel a moral obligation to help. Be nice if ppl living here saw this as home too.
Inappropriate photograph considering the headline.
The Afghani men and army ran away from their “moral obligation”. Have a chat with them first maybe 🤷🏾♂️
