New Zealand's COVID-19 cluster emerged from a Sydney returnee who arrived in Auckland on August 7, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern revealed on Thursday.

The returnee travelled from Sydney to Auckland from a managed 'red zone' flight on August 7, before returning a positive result on August 9.

Ms Ardern says it's likely COVID-19 was active in the community for a 'relatively short' period of time. "Can I thank again our first positive case that was identified on Tuesday. If it wasn't for you getting tested when you did, this could be a much, much more difficult situation."New Zealand entered a snap-lockdown on Tuesday afternoon after a 58-year-old Devonport man tested positive.

Blame NZ quarantine not Australia typical Labour but isn’t she fantastic nope

Hope she doesn’t cry. What a shame she never acknowledges the true source of the the Virus being China.

Government’s failure in hotel quarantine, and the ppl of NZ pay as a result. Labor government’s don’t give a toss for small business, the economy and the mental health of ppl as a result of lockdowns. All in the name of keeping ppl safe. 99% of cases are mild!

Bloody Australians!

🖕🏼

Can’t say full name of who’s infected? Always every case is a anonymous person!!!

The main headline is that it leaked out of her quarantine hotel failure. Ignore her blame NSW diversion
