A young boy has miraculously avoided death and severe injuries in a horror fall into a gorge north of Perth.

Daniel Ford, 7, suffered multiple fractured vertebrae and sustained a 30cm gash to his forehead after he plunged five metres into Joffre Gorge in Karijini National Park on October 2.But those injuries weren’t enough to keep the beaming boy down, who has since recovered in Perth Hospital with no paralysis.

Emergency workers, including the WA Police, SES vertical rescue team, St John’s WA, and nearby workers from Fortescue Metals had to scale the popular gorge to winch the boy out of trouble.Local rangers helped winch the seven-year-old to safety after he slipped and fell into the gorge.“He was in a significant amount of pain, but the tears, he held them back and he just managed to keep his composure,” Mr Wilson told reporters.
