NSW Transport Minister David Elliott says former deputy premier John Barilaro should withdraw from a plum new taxpayer-funded job in New York.

NSW Transport Minister David Elliott says former deputy premier John Barilaro should withdrawn from a plum new taxpayer-funded job in New York.

Mr Barilaro has been appointed as the state’s Trade Commissioner for the Americas, a role that comes with a salary package of $500,000. Premier Dominic Perrottet has called an independent inquiry into the appointment, and a separate parliamentary inquiry examining the selection process sat yesterday for the first time.

How can this appointment possibly be acceptable when the Gov-Gen without direct influence, can’t praise a business for a private job well done?

If Barilaro was worth $500k per year, surely he is in demand with his skill sets elsewhere for a package of similar remuneration………. Nah, probably not, that’s why he will go down swinging….

Is this the first MP or PM to move to a high paying public sector role? The public would be more interested in having his pension means-tested like everyone else.

What’s that smell

'I'd expect him to withdraw and do the honourable thing' Is it honorable to say sorry to someone you just raped?

David ‘I AM the police’ Elliot being referred to as a Senior Minister made me guffaw so much I nearly vomited 🤮 The NSW Liberal Party has so many bloody crooks, so much baggage, missteps❗️How are they getting away with it❓Why aren’t we rioting in Macquarie Street❓❗️

I smell a rat

The rats are scared what’s going to come out.

Doesn't matter if he does or does not. Evidence suggests the process was corrupted.

Expecting Barilaro to “do the honourable thing” Mr Elliot is how we got to this situation. There is NOTHING honourable about this guy.

But, but Porkilaro has already filled his calendar with family and friend visits to his new digs in NYC for the next 12 months. Doing the right and ethical thing would be a major loss of face…

Why does the 'job' created by someone of questionable character, need to exist?

If they can take it off the successful candidate they can certainly take it off Barilaro. It’s appalling that Perrottet hasn’t done so already.

Now, if Barilaro had half a brain...
