A senior Labor MP is warning the party could be split in two if it can't bring together its working class and socially progressive factions.

A senior Labor MP is warning the party could be split in two if it can't bring together its working class and socially progressive factions.

Member for Hunter Joel Fitzgibbon said he feared the prospect of a breakway group, similar to the anti-communist Democratic Labor Party in the 1950s. Mr Fitzgibbon's comments come as Labor leader Anthony Albanese faces internal division triggered by concerns he will not bring the party to the political centre. The senior right-faction member said he hoped the split could be avoided and did not think it was imminent.

Yeh, that’s going to be impossible. They just don’t mix. Leave the socially progressive factions to the greens and you actually may gain some respect among the working class in 5-10 years. AustralianLabor needs to get back to Hawke/Keating principles (without the China embrace).

Didn’t already - ALP V Greens?

How is it some idiots are suggesting the right wing of the Labor party should split away from the progressives? Um... remember the Democratic Labor Party (DLC)? Last time Labor had a fully conservative party it shriveled up and died VERY quickly. You wanna make same mistake?

OMGTheMess Labor is about to get the very long overdue kick in the arse it so richly deserves. OBLITERATED! Not seen again for a decade.

Expel the Socialist Regressive / Progressive Faction from the Labor Party 🎉

This needs to go mainstream you have a very corrupt system that needs exposing ThesePeopleAreEvil

Socially Progressive = Woke Marxists

Do it now - we can stop all the pretending with alp members putting on the high vis in regional areas pretending to care about farmers and resource sector workers.

I would really like to know precisely who Labor thinks belongs to the ‘working class’ as society and the workforce has moved on significantly since the Labor movement began?

The socially regressive factions will destroy the ALP.

Hope it happens. I would back an old stlye working class ALP.

We need to abolish both useless parties and replace them with people who care about Australia.

margmopp The regressive “progressive” faction has made Labor unelectable.

Fairly obvious that the left and extreme left of Labor will abandon Labor and move their alliance to the Greens. People fed up with the corruption of the Party system.

Democratic diversity? Leverage over status quo? Defanged factional warlords? Parking space for common sense? Focus on policy and meaningful outcomes? *alarm clock destroys dream again*

The problem with young Labor is, like the American Democrats they are more socially radical than socially progressive. Working class issues can be resolved through progressive solutions like more social housing & new age manufacturing, not gender pronouns & banning fossil fuels.

Looks like doesn’t give a stuff about Aged Care. Trying to distract us with bullshit story like this

WB: Labor looking after the workers Hmm Only about 50% of them

Kick out the progs, that’s really the only good thing they could ever do.

Stop calling these race and gender obsessed clowns progressive. There is nothing about them that is about progress.

ZSRenn And he’s 100% correct.

While the radical queer left run AustralianLabor , they can look forward to decades in the wilderness. Australians don't like crazies.

The left is splitting everywhere. The 'progressive' stinkers are in love with false ideas and calling people racist. It is about their virtue and demonstrating it. Others look to the left because once they virtue signalled they cared about the poor and downtrodden.

The Australian people worked that out a long time ago.

The two are totally incompatible. We need a new DLP.

'Working class faction' = climate changer deniers.
