Second doctor assaulted in a week after Sunshine Hospital shift

Two doctors have been brutally assaulted in the space of a week after finishing work at Sunshine Hospital in Melbourne's western suburbs.

The assault came less than a week after a junior doctor was attacked by four muggers matching the same description. "We are seeking further advice from police but we urge you to consider your safety and be acutely aware of your surroundings if you are walking to or from the site.""We are extremely concerned that these assaults have occurred and the safety of Western Health staff and volunteers is our top priority," Mr Harrison said in a statement.

"It is not just hospital workers who are threatened by this incident, but also the residents, train commuters, school teachers and students from Holy Eucharist Primary School," he said.Last year, the Victorian government introduced new laws aimed at toughening the sentencing of anyone found guilty of assaulting an emergency worker, including police, paramedics, doctors and nurses delivering or supporting emergency care, firefighters and prison officers.
