Scientists and government pushing for ways to make mRNA vaccines here | msemmak liammannix

Applications scientist at ATA Scientific, Peter Davis, said it was “absolutely possible” for Australia to set up mRNA vaccine manufacturing at scale. It’s not yet clear exactly what technology would be required to manufacture Pfizer or Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccines under licence, but both companies have worked with Precision in the past, Mr Davis said.

Professor Pall Thordarson, chief investigator at the ARC Centre of Excellence in Bio-Nano Science and a member of the effort said it was “not a question of whether we can do it, but when”. The company has indicated it would consider investment in mRNA technologies in the future, however. It declined to comment on Wednesday.A 2017 report prepared for the Defence DepartmentTo achieve onshore production for existing vaccines, Australia would also have to reach an agreement with those companies. A Pfizer spokeswoman said it was working to expand its manufacturing capacity, both internally and by signing contract manufacturers.

“I am very wary about companies who say they can do large-scale commercial manufacturing – as opposed to those companies that actually can. That’s a big difference,” he said.

Biotech company pushes to make mRNA coronavirus vaccines in AustraliaAustralia could begin local production of Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines within six to 12 months, an international biotech company says — but such a scheme would depend on approvals and investment. Great to see, small correction - should be plasmids not ‘plasmas’ as written. Covid manufacturers are raking it in yet still rattle the begging bowl Tell them to fuck off Holden and Ford scammed tax millions every year for 2 decades and still upped sticks when it suited them Fucking parasites What's the value in that. Liberals would not be able to put the vaccines in people's arms.
