As the Sydney Mardi Gras heads to its annual climax, Australia’s most famous drag queen, Courtney Act – who will be co-hosting SBS’s live parade coverage – talks life, love and labels

program last year, she said: “The volume’s too loud now and everybody’s yelling.” While history showed that people sometimes need to raise their voices, “when you actually sit down opposite someone and have a conversation with them, you get so much further”.

“Rather than yelling aggressively back at the people trying to oppress us, I think the most important thing to do is to share our stories.” But even then, Shane says he failed to really comprehend about what Mardi Gras was all about. Just like many heterosexual critics over the years, as a young man he gawked at the giant dancing penises, fetish-wear and nudity and wondered: why?“I remember thinking: why can’t they just be normal?” Shane says. “Have your parade, but why does it have to be about sex and penises? Because I had shame about all of those things.

‘Rude’ train passenger’s brazen act roastedWe’ve all been guilty of saving a seat for a friend at a cinema or pub but it’s a truth universally acknowledged that you shouldn’t do it on public transport. The selfish generation! I experienced a similar situation on my recent cruise with RoyalCaribbean in the Royal Theatre. At every performance, some audience come to the theatre and hold seats for friends and relatives depriving others to take these seats to watch the performance. It’s unethical. Backpacks have rights too nothing to see here

RSL ban on Welcome to Country sparks backlashThe RSL's West Australian branch has been labelled out of step, ignorant and racist for banning the Welcome to Country during the Anzac Day dawn service and Remembrance Day ceremony. 9News ANZAC day is about remembering how our Diggers fought for a White Australia - so it's actually anti-White to even suggest to have a 'Welcome to Country' at such an occasion. It's not 'Racist' to celebrate the Men and Women who fought and died for a White Australia. The Welcome to Country ceremony is a load of BULLSHIT, it has nothing to do with Aboriginal heritage, culture, beliefs or Dreamtime, it is a modern day Aboriginal fairy tale invented by Ernie Dingo in 1976, welcoming a group of visiting Maoris, modern day Aboriginal sideshow act. JUST WHO - is doing tha Labelling? Is it C9 or simply small vociferous groups of snowflakes, misguided academics or plain ordinary 'trouble-makers'? Aboriginals are Australians - they do not need a different flag! Absolutely nothing to do with the vogue misnomer of racism.

Crown casino hosted organised crime target as he built a gambling empireThe co-owner of Macau-based junket Suncity - which had a permanent presence in Crown - was among the 'top tier' of groups involved in serious organised crime. Ageinvestigates Honestly is this not one of the most corrupt countries in the world. Be it political donations, lobbyists, Government slush funds or connections to organised crime there is no limit to the skulduggery. While we're told the enemy is else where and we are kept safe by Government. Ageinvestigates Well thats what Casinos are for..robbing the average Joe who has NO dea about his REAL chances of winning...and is therefore seen as suckerbait revenue...and money laundering. These are the two true purposes of a casino. Therefore no surprise ! Ageinvestigates Gambling is also a front for drug dealings and prostitution in many cases, so nothing surprises me about what they get up to.
