The Australian’s Political Editor Andrew Clennell says a royal commission into veteran suicide should have 'solutions ready' after mothers of veterans who took their own lives called for an inquiry during a meeting with Scott Morrison on Wednesday.

The Australian’s Political Editor Andrew Clennell says a royal commission into veteran suicide should have "solutions ready" after mothers of veterans who took their own lives called for an inquiry during a meeting with Scott Morrison on Wednesday. The mothers, three of whom lost their sons this year, shared their stories at The Daily Telegraph’s Save Our Heroes Summit after meeting the prime minister.

“You get these royal commissions, they go for months, they themselves cost tens of millions [of dollars] at times, and you don’t always get the result you want,” Mr Clennell said. The Courier-Mail’s National Political Editor Renee Viellaris said the prime minister seems “very serious about doing some things on veterans affairs”. “If parents give their kids to their country, to fight for the country, then when they come home we need to look after them,” Ms Viellaris said.

Still don't understand why we have to send our nation's sons to fight Islamic wars. They've been at it for 1400 years, killing each other and their women. We can't stop it.

What they need is better vetting of soldiers who join up, then intensive training to prepare for the battlefield to make them aware of what they will find. Too late once they arrive at the battlefield unprepared. Better still stay out of foreign wars.

Scientists declaring climate emergency is 'an exercise in advocacy' | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Chris Kenny says only a fraction of the scientific community have signed a petition to declare a climate emergency, and therefore it is merely “an exercise in advocacy”. \n\nMr Kenny’s comments come after a group of scientists rallied and put a declaration together, joining a global push to call for a climate emergency. \n\nThe Sky News host said 11,000 is a “significant number of signatures” but said it does need to be kept “in perspective”.\n\n“This is 11,000 scientists from all sorts of areas from around the world, effectively signing a petition,” he said.\n\n“Now I don't know precisely how many scientists there are in the world, 10 million or 100 million, it will depend on how you define scientist.\n\n“But clearly millions upon millions of scientists have not declared a climate emergency.”\n Chris Kenny is an endless exercise in unjustified self importance. Sad! 11 thousand is a lot of scientist.Of course you would have to take into consideration their field of science and one could presume that the 11 thousand deal in fields related to climate/weather/ environment.
