'Respond to the new reality': Rozelle residents plead for Westconnex reprieve | TheMattBungard

Residents of inner-west Sydney suburb Rozelle are asking the state government to alter the work schedule of the nearby WestConnex project, saying the constant noise while they are working from home is too much to handle.

The member for Balmain said that residents weren't under the illusion that roadworks could stop completely, but were hopeful that, with most people working from home at the moment, there would be more periods of respite."Residents recognise that there will always be some noise, but the impact day and night with people in their homes is just driving people to breaking point," he said.

"They need to respond to the new reality. People are at home, with their kids, 24/7. You can’t have them exposed to dust and noise all day and night.""More and more kids are having lessons online, so the noise is pretty horrendous," she said. "We got told that the government deems this an essential service because it employs lots of people. I’m in the arts and that collapsed overnight. We all lost playing work and gigs, I’m lucky to make money teaching but I’ve got friends that lost everything.

TheMattBungard While I understand the inconvenience to residents, do they realise that their reprieve might just come at the expense of someone else's job?

TheMattBungard Oh get over it - let those who still have jobs keep them. We all have some kind of noise living in a city. I have a child care centre with screaming kids all day next door so I bought some earphones for when I’m working.

Building bridges: business and government respond to secure medical suppliesFlights loaded with equipment needed to fight the pandemic are set to depart China in the coming days, after a scramble to secure shipping and logistics. Very philanthropic of them, and appreciated. I wonder if the goods being sent originated in Australia and were sent to China originally as 'Daigou' ? I hope they're good quality!!........ the supplies sent from china to Spain were up to 30% faulty!!?.....and to Czechs were 80% faulty!!!? What a fucking joke! We should be nationalising Chinese companies here to pay for manufacturing of our own supplies.. to rely on China for a crisis they created is insanity
