The Sydney Morning Herald reports close to 95,000 visitors have arrived at Australian airports seeking asylum in the past five years, with that number progressively increasing each year.Labor's home affairs spokeswoman Kristina Kenneally obtained the figures in response to questions in the Senate.
Labor claims the vast majority are found to not be legitimate refugees and suspect an increase in the number of trafficking and scam incidents coincides with the influx of asylum seekers. Those rejected for asylum are placed on two to three-year bridging visas and it is feared they are more susceptible to exploitation in the workplace.
The doors been opened, loopholes in place, now watch them all refuse to leave.
