Former deputy prime minister John Anderson says the government supports “race provisions” in the constitution but reimplementing the alcohol ban in the Northern Territory is “race-based”.

“Here is a senior Labor person that says, ‘oh no, we will not have anything addressed in this race-based issue’ here of a crisis in the community, but it’s alright to have race provisions in the federal constitution,” he told Sky News host

Peta Credlin.“I think it’s an extraordinary contradiction, and it points to something, which is that if we were to go ahead with the Voice as proposed … we need to be very mindful that progressives won’t take the recommendations of anyone.”

Am pretty sure the alcohol ban is for White folk as well ✅

Aboriginal Community elders: we need bans/restrictions on grog. Labor: No that’s racist 🙃

John who

Seriously 🤦‍♂️ Who cares if'n you call the truth racist.. Fix the problems 👍

If Morrison fixed this problem in HIS TERM and especially when he visited Alice 8 months ago, specifically to address this issue, Alice Springs would not be in this situation now! SKY NEWS only going on with this to divert attention away from ROBODEBT!

It is based on offenders who become violent and commit crimes. Also, if they were sober, their kids would stay home it's irrelevant if their Aboriginal or not.

NT will not have ‘race-based policy’ that ‘disempowers’ Aboriginal Territorians: FylesNorthern Territory Chief Minister Natasha Fyles says the territory will not have a 'race-based policy' that 'disempowers' Aboriginal Territorians, as the government faces pressure to tackle the issue of alcohol and rising crime rates in the region. “People out of the Northern Territory need to understand the context,” she told Sky News Australia. “We have some of the most strictest alcohol supply measures, we will continue to work in that space, but we will not have a race-based policy that disempowers Aboriginal Territorians.” Self determination and self governance has worked so well in the past. Corruption, nepotism, theft and mismanagement. We should give the indigenous people a voice to parliament we can run the country like ATSIC was. This situation presents a potential matter for a ‘Voice’ to address. So give it a go ‘Voice’ protagonists! CRIME BASE POLICY!!!!

'Shameful chapter': Intervention ends in the NT after 15 yearsWhat went wrong in Alice Springs? Labor MP for Lingiari Marion Scrymgour has lived and worked across the Territory all her life. She says the spike in crime and violence may be due to a major oversight. More on the Howard-era 'Intervention' policy here: What... is this a joke? Albo is currently in Alice because of the massive spike in crime, that came about at the end of intervention measures. Such as alcohol bans. You're damned if you do and damned if you don't. If you can't get the horrific rate of child sexual abuse under control within your own community, then other people will do it for you. When that happens, you're no position to complain. Take responsibility and stop blaming others. My nurse mate not long ago returned from a placement there, and based on her reports its not just race based issues. Lack of support, funding and feet down in those Communities were issues that caused a perpetual cycle. I agreed to help her raise those issues internally
