Queensland will shut its border to New South Wales from Tuesday after New South Wales announced 15 new cases from more than 38,000 tests, all of which are linked to the Avalon cluster. There are currently 83 active cases linked to the Avalon outbreak. Dr Young stressed the importance of getting a test after it emerged several Queenslanders are close contacts of the Avalon cluster, however all are isolating awaiting test results.
“Anyone who is in the Glen Hotel on the 16th December, can you please come forward and get tested. 560 people have so far, but we're not sure that everyone has come forward,” Dr Young said. “It is critical, for you as an individual but also for your family members and the community. Also, anyone who is in Queensland today, who was in the Northern Beaches on the 11 December or subsequent to that, it is important that you come forward and immediately make yourself known and get tested.
