Queensland may not reopen to the rest of Australia until it gets to a 90 per cent vaccination rate.

Sky News Australia understands Queensland's Cabinet has endorsed the 90 per cent threshold after Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and Western Australia refused to sign up to the National Cabinet deal of 80 per cent.

Chief Health Officer Dr Jeanette Young and Ms Palaszczuk have both shifted in the past week to the 90 per cent figure as their preferred threshold to opening up. The decision on 90 per cent vaccination rates is being driven by Labor polling which shows Queenslanders do not want to be opened up if it means a mass Delta variant outbreak, like NSW and Victoria. The first is that Queenslanders are angry at the so-called exemptions unit, which is regarded as"heartless'', for refusing to allow Queenslanders back into the Sunshine State, but it gives special treatment to the wives and girlfriends of footballers.

AnnastaciaMP Fuck off😡😡😡🖕🏻🖕🏻🖕🏻

Mad Anna

Good job they’re all willing to get vaccinated otherwise it might be closed forever… oh. Bugger

We are in a global pandemic.Covid is here to stay. Spend more money promoting vaccines.Astra Zeneca is amazing. That wipes out Christmas for myself & my family thank you AnnastaciaMP for unrealistic expectations. Please consider peoples mental health along with some compassion

News just in...QLD will reopen borders at 125% vaccination rate.

Will Queensland reopen?

This is one type of excuse not to open borders ... shameless people

Queenslander here, totally support governments position, I don’t want my kids getting covid if I can help it thanks. - quit trying to bully us into your own twisted agenda. Health comes first, above all else. And for all - not just for the privileged few, and 16+ pop

Queensland you voted for AnnastaciaMP so you got what you deserved. More job losses and bankruptcy

If that's the case better get used to very high unemployment and collapsing business.

Hel know. Hic.

It’s all arbitrary at this point. They couldn’t even details the difference in risk between 80 and 90. But doesn’t 90sound better

Based on AnnastaciaMP grasp of numbers (refer State Budget) I'm surprised she's not waiting till 110% 3*vaxed. Seems thats how much of Qlds revenue she spends.

In Israel over 80% of adults are fully vaccinated w/Pfizer, they have 130% more cases & 56% more deaths than this time last year, according to the WHO. Making your society hinge on these vaccines is the wrong answer.

Anna will still be asking for Jobseeker which is absurd.

The very fact that their 'Best' CHO ranted so much about no to AZ as people die (according to her), Pfizer to 60 is all based on her credible 'Medical' advise.... Is it not?

Very sensible given what is happening overseas and in NSW.

Queensland is going ahead fast with vaccines-( At least 56,412 vaccinations were administered across Queensland Health hubs this Super Pfizer Weekend, with more jabs still to be counted tonight 👏 PfizerWeekend QLDER 💉💪

'The key finding, however, is that Queenslanders love their liberty and freedoms'. Yes, in context - liberty and freedoms in comparison to being locked down. We don't want to continue to be held hostage in our own state indefinitely. Wake up. AnnastaciaMP

Good on you Queensland, I'm glad someone out there has the guts to stand up to the Federal bully boys!!

lol

Just make it up Sky LIE News ! I suppose journalist don't do research anymore just make unsubstantiated statements. Besides which it's not a bad thing . It just might save lives - unlike reckless Gladys - ? ! GladysB

No tourism dollars this summer ay.

I don’t know why people are so surprised lol. She’s a moron. She’s loving this control. I feel sorry for the tourism industry though. She is basically leaving them all without a job if this true.

Maybe…maybe not even then This is all speculation

Couldn’t care less about what Queensland’s doing

Yeah good luck with that 🙄that will be mid next year if ever, Queen Anna holding her people to ransom !!

Who cares keep qld and wa in cotton wool rest open up

Just prolonging the inevitable. Covid is not going away. It’s a coronavirus. Like the cold virus or bronchitis leads to pneumonia and in the elderly or immune compromised can be deadly.

These vaccines DO NOT WORK. Get that through your skull. Do not listen to and regurgitate the sound-bites as if you're 'informed'. They are made up. Real science is being $ilenced.

Better to be safe than sorry
