The controversial proposal to gag media from reporting corruption allegations during election campaigns has been taken "completely off the table," Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk says.
"Obviously, the Government now has no intention of pursuing that and we will not be pursuing that, if we are successful at the next election as well," she said on Saturday. Ms Palaszczuk said she accepted there were legitimate concerns over the laws and she took "full responsibility". But she maintained it had stemmed from a recommendation from the CCC, not the Government, and said that the corruption watchdog had been consulted on the bill's drafting.
This woman should be out just for suggesting this fascist law.
Democracy is being attacked by moneied up toffs who think they are the only ones who count.
Absolute madness that this was proposed at all.
She is a Shorten stooge who wanted to smash Queensland's mining industry pre Federal election, now its all about kissing Queenslander's arse........a traitor for sure.
The only reason this was considered is the unrelenting, unsubstantiated accusations from the LNP and unprofessional journalists.
