Queensland officials have defended their decision to close to Sydney travellers after two of three new cases confirmed in the Sunshine State today were linked to a known New South Wales coronavirus cluster.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk revealed a couple who dined at The Apollo restaurant in Potts Point elected to self-isolate upon returning to Qld and later tested positive. She said the case reaffirmed tightening border restrictions was “definitely the right decision that we have made to protect Queensland and Queenslanders’ health.

” The third infection was sourced to a man in his 20s who returned from the Untied States and remains in hotel quarantine. The Premier urged people to continue getting tested if they feel unwell. She also urged people to leave a social setting if they observed anyone ignoring social distancing protocols when in public. “Now is not the time to be in extremely large gatherings where people are not social distancing,” she said.
