A further 2,500 Qantas workers could lose their jobs under the latest round of cost cutting.

The airline has announced plans to outsource ground handling operations, saving around $100 million a year.

Staff at 10 major airports have been briefed on the plan. Qantas and its budget partner Jetstar have already announced 6,000 job cuts.
