Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce led the field for chief executive pay in a record-breaking year when all but one of the country's top bosses received a bonus.
ACSI's report said median realised pay, which includes shares that vested during the year, was $4.5 million for ASX 100 CEOs. That compares with average full-time earnings of $85,010, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.The report, prepared by governance advisory firm Ownership Matters, found that 75 of the 76 CEOs in the ASX 100 who were eligible for a bonus received one.
"Qantas remains one of the best performing airline groups in the world but executive pay has dropped twice in the two years since the data in this report," he said.Ms Davidson referred to the hefty investor protest votes last year against Westpac, National Australia Bank and ANZ Bank. All three of the banks suffered first “strikes,” which refers to a shareholder vote of more than 25 per cent against a coompany's executive remuneration report.
