NSW's public school teachers and principals are walking off the job tomorrow, the first time in a decade such statewide industrial action has been taken.
Teachers Federation president Angelo Gavrielatos said staff shortages were creating unsustainable workloads. At the same time there's been a 30 per cent drop in young people entering initial teacher education and a 50 per cent drop out rate.Teachers say more resignations are inevitable due to the pressures of the job.
The action comes after 18 months of negotiations over a pay deal, and the Education Minister Sarah Mitchell said it was disappointing to see teachers going ahead with the strike while talks were underway.

More Omicron cases detected in NSW and the ACT, taking national total to 18Both NSW and the ACT reported new cases of the coronavirus variant on Sunday. The Northern Territory is the only other jurisdiction to have reported an Omicron case. Gotta love zero quarantine for international arrivals and a live with mentality.
