NSW and Victoria say they will not be altering plans to further lift COVID-19 restrictions and will not pursue an “Omicron zero” strategy | natassiazc

NSW recorded 286 cases of COVID-19 on Sunday including two new cases of the Omicron variant, bringing the total number of cases with the strain in Sydney to 15.

He said NSW would not be altering its existing road map, which will see further restrictions ease on December 15 including an end to masks, vaccination verification and QR code scanning in retail settings and restaurants as well as density limits. Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt on Sunday morning confirmed children aged 5 to 11 will start receiving coronavirus vaccines from January 10, after provisional approval“Our provisional expectation, at this stage, is that we’ve been able to bring forward the commencement of the paediatric doses or the children’s doses to January 10,” Mr Hunt said on Sunday.

Professor Skerritt said that was not the same as long COVID-19 but involved a range of symptoms that affected children. “That’s one of the things we’re protecting against by vaccinating children,” he said.

natassiazc Right decision 👍🏼

natassiazc The boffins who skipped Xi & Nu to come up with Omicron did not do the world a favour, well save……

natassiazc What fools.

natassiazc Dan the man wins over peratwit

natassiazc Drugmakers say they are confident emerging antiviral drugs will prove effective in combating the Omicron variant even as they acknowledge that existing vaccines provide less protection against the new strain.

natassiazc 'living with the Covid19 virus' means taking all steps to protect yourself, exactly the measures Dom_Perrottet wants to end on 15 Dec 2021. Omicron is in Australia only because border controls were too lax. Now we get more business as usual. This will be regretted

natassiazc The variant has picked up a genome of a common cold. Omicron has the symptoms of a simple common cold. All these so called professional health advisors are useless

natassiazc

natassiazc Mongrels. They'll be safe from it though.

natassiazc We live on an island of course we can have zero covid.... 4 week quarantine for anyone entering.... the majority win against the overseas travellers... you want to leave you can go but quarantine when you return it’s your choice... guess what no covid.. better quarantine needed..

natassiazc That’s great news. Covid zero is insane.

natassiazc Sydney barely had a fucking elimination strategy for Delta of course y'all just gonna let this one fly too.
