Public inquiry into Folbigg conviction amid new scientific evidence | Rabe9

NSW Attorney-General Mark Speakman has confirmed a new public inquiry will be held into the conviction of Kathleen Folbigg over the death of her four children.

Speakman on Wednesday said he made the recommendation to the Governor after scientific revelations regarding a genetic mutation that could have been passed from Folbigg to her children.“The evidence clearly in my view reaches the necessary threshold for some kind of intervention,” Speakman said.Folbigg was convicted of murdering her three infant children Patrick, Sarah and Laura and for the manslaughter of her fourth child, Caleb Gibson, between 1989 and 1999.
