Premier warns entirety of Victoria could go back into lockdown

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews says the whole state may be placed in lockdown down if the number of coronavirus cases continues to rise.Mr Andrews said if Victoria could not quickly get the outbreak under control, more postcodes would be locked downThe Federal Deputy Chief Health Officer says making coronavirus tests mandatory would only be a last resort

"This is not over. This is so wildly infectious that even minor breaches of the rules can lead to this random movement of the virus around the community." Mr Andrews said if people did not follow the rules, and cases continued to rise, he would "be locking down all suburbs".

Quarantine the sick, the elderly and the at risk. Let everyone else live their lives. Anyone that doesn’t want to risk catching Covid-19 can self isolate if they choose. We have enough evidence now to prove the virus is nowhere near as deadly as first predicted

I think that because deaths have been so low that many, many Australian's are doing very little to follow distancing rules. It won't be taken seriously unless strict measures are in place.

Unfortunately that's where things are at. Testing needs to be rolled out wider, mandatory in hot spots. Defence force medics & other services could assist. Other states are also helping via provision of health workers & by testing samples.
