abc.net.au/news/administrative-appeals-tribunal-abolished-by-attorney-general/101781300One of the most notoriously politicised bodies, the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, will be abolished after the attorney-general deemed its reputation had been irredeemably damaged.
For almost 50 years the AAT was tasked with reviewing the decisions of government, including on matters of taxation, immigration and social security. "The AAT's dysfunction has had a very real cost to the tens of thousands of people who rely on the AAT each year to independently review government decisions that have major and sometimes life-changing impacts on their lives," Mr Dreyfus said.
Not all AAT Members are LNP cronies. Many AAT Members were there before Abbott govt 2013 win. Non-LNP Members got their jobs on merit, came up through the ranks, former Legal Officers etc. Unfairly, non-LNP Members have to re-apply for their jobs too, dragged down by LNP cronies
Hurrah.
Fair Work next please!
And the next to be abolished is the ABC.
yakillinme1 A genuine Christmas present from Labor to ALL Aussies who may have concerns about a particular Govt decision
'We will sack all the Liberal mates and replace them with Labor mates.'
Well done👏- now do Fair Work Commission, the AFP and the ABC
Bravo!
now the courts would be clogged up with migration appeals Even unwanted evil migrants want to come here Sadam's body guard n other foreign crooks came here
That bit about Tina Arena is wrong, she was appointed to another body, Australia Council for the Arts, not the AAT jcobevans
Vermeera AAT, one down, on to AFP.
Well I guess it’s a timely distraction from a politicised payout to Higgins & Macklins appointment. They all just make it up as they go. Best wishes.
'The Attorney-General declared its reputation had been irreversibly damaged' No idea if that is true is there proof AAT was not doing it's job? It will be interesting to see what the government's version will look like in the new year. 🤔
Now fo the Fair Work Commission
Exactly what Labor will do with the IBAC sadly, just look to Victoria Police have arrested 4 people in relation to brownlow . But they can't touch 14 Labor MPs who have admitted to red shirt rorts.
Now all we need is a RC into the Murdoch Costello Stokes Media.
