Police will enforce strict stay-at-home directions in Victoria's coronavirus hotspots if the spread of COVID-19 cannot be suppressed before July 19, as epidemiologists warn a "severe regional lockdown" might be needed sooner to curb the outbreak.
Mr Morrison said on Monday that locking down suburbs or local government areas was always part of national cabinet's plan as governments moved towards opening up the economy. Victoria recorded 16 cases of coronavirus on Monday – the sixth day in a row of double-digit growth – with 12 of those believed to be due to community transmission, making it the largest single-day increase in community transmission since the peak of the pandemic in April.
"We haven't put stay-at-home directions [for those municipalities], but we're not ruling it out," Ms Mikakos said yesterday. University of Melbourne professor of epidemiology Tony Blakely said if cases continued to climb dramatically over the next three days, a "very severe regional lockdown" was likely to be required.
Yeah, so they're quite willing to clamp down on the ordinary Aussie, but they're not willing to stop loser protesters and sort out the branch stacking in their own backyard. The double standard is breathtaking. The state of emergency needs to be rescinded.
Get a live women. Youn are out of your depth. Think vaccine and or Herd Immunity. Do a short course in virology.
She has lost the plot this one..........what went wrong?
Why put the police at risk - it’s probably these people who don’t respect the law and protesting the same 🤦🏼♂️ The virus is winning - let it take its course.
Houston,we have a problem.
springst Liberal voting Victorians have had enough of the erosion of their personal freedom under the dictatorship of Daniel Andrews and his cronies. It should be back to business as normal without delay.
Should name and shame those who breach health regulation and infect others. 7NewsAustralia COVID19Aus healthgovau
My 4yo asked me, Why would ‘they’ make a virus and spread it all over the world. This is the place our children will grow up in, we cannot continue to live our lives by having fear put in us. Our children will be paying huge taxes on this in years to come. economy needs to move.
The governments dream of eradication is never going to work. A vaccine is 18 months away and that will not get rid of covid. It’s here for good. The longer we hide, the more livelihoods will be destroyed. Welcome to the start of the next depression.
Victoria health have lost the plot. Where is socialist Dan when your looking for him?
Unless your on a protest about something that happened in America
If they had this attitude 16 days ago we wouldn't be in the predicament we now find our city in. Regardless of positive Covid-19 cases from the protest, Melbournians have flaunted restrictions due to the poor example displayed by the Andrews government re: BLM/Antifa protest.
Isn't democracy wonderful? The freedom to harm others is a GREATER RIGHT than the right of those harmed
What an absolute crock of Shite look a at figures didn’t see the government shutting down all the Portsea residents who brought it back into Australia the so called hot spots are bullshite overseas travellers in iso are from other states added to our figures
Whatever. This virus lockdown has been wrecking lives for months now. Just educate people on the risks and let them make their own decisions. You can’t destroy the economy until a vaccine is created. And that may not even be possible!
Sorry to hear that needs to be done but if it does do it
Could? Typical ALP. Lets have snother BLM rally.
Full hard lock down!!! Yeaahhhhhhhh!
Interesting they decided to name previous spreaders but not the latest ones .. I wonder why ? Any money its got to do with being the bullshit 'politically correct' rubbish..
Papers Comrades?
She played politics by outing the Toorak Doctor that was one of Victoria’s first... strange ... she is a little more reticent now...
