A colleague of JimmyLaiApple has provided some insights into what happened when the Hong Kong pro-democracy media tycoon was arrested following police raids on the building of the media company Apple Daily.

11/08/2020A colleague of Jimmy Lai has provided some insights into what happened when the billionaire Hong Kong pro-democracy media tycoon was arrested following police raids on the building of the media company Apple Daily on Monday. Senior executive at Lai's Next Media group, Mark Simon, told Sky News host Chris Smith "the massive raid on the newspaper really took us all back".

Mr Lai has been detained for allegedly colluding with foreign forces. The founder of Apple daily, Mr Lai, is a prominent supporter of the pro-democracy protests that erupted last year and is also believed to be financing several groups critical of Beijing’s communist government. Discussing the raid, Mr Simon said police "just came in the building; they took every floor".
