The Homicide Squad is investigating the death of a man after his body was found in the middle of a road in the New South Wales Hunter Region.

Officers were called to a Raymond Terrace intersection at 6AM on Saturday morning after a member of the public raised the alarm.

The man is yet to be formally identified and police are treating the incident as suspicious. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
