A boy who got off his school bus and stepped in after he allegedly witnessed a man punching a woman in the face is praised by police for his bravery in stopping the incident.

"Honestly, I was just doing what any person should do — stepping in. Just being the best I can be, really," he said."I just looked him dead in the eye, I wasn't scared of him. In my mind I was thinking, 'If you think you're so tough, you're picking on a woman that's half your size and now you're choking a kid that's half your size'."

The man, 32 from Bidwell, and a woman, 27, left the scene in a red Holden Commodore but police arrested the man a short distance away. He was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault and was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today."It was courageous. For a 14-year-old boy to intervene would have been very, very confronting, let alone an adult getting involved," he said."Domestic violence isn't acceptable any time, anywhere, and if you see domestic violence, step up and intervene if you can, and if you can't intervene, ring the police.

GOOD ON HIM, DOING SOMETHING THAT THE ADULTS NEED TO START DOING!

Fabulous to see a teenager stand up for what is right. Thanks to his parents/school/friends for teaching him that violence of any kind is not OK, along with giving him the confidence to stand up. So heartening to see. Congratulations young man.

This act was stupid, not courageous! This well meaning teenager basically put himself in a position to be severely injured or killed! The violent offender could have had mental issues or been high on drugs! Anyone other than family or friends, just call the police!

Just call the police. Men have been killed intervening in DV situations. Your life is not worth risking! Remember, to intervene means you may have to use violence. Feminism berates men for their “so called” toxic masculinity! Therefore, we are not their protectors!

He needs to be aware of the coward's punch!!!!

He was very lucky not to be assaulted or worse by this drug crazed idiot who gets his kicks from assaulting women!!!!!

What a great kid !

Well done to this boy, his parents should be really proud. Saddest bit of this story, the woman got back in the car with the offender.

His parents have done a fine job of instilling good values.

Let’s hope this is the beginning of change where the young see where behaviour is wrong and are willing to stand up and call it out!

Now if a few million other men would do the same thing....

carocourt1 Refused bail. Excellent. Brave kid. We need more boys like this, they grow up into good men.

The women who he was punching in the face gets in a car with him to flee the scene 🤦‍♂️

Well done young man,we need more of this. People act like,it not my buisness, but it is it's all our responsibility to make a stand, domestic violence is wrong,it has no place in our society, and if more people had the inner strength this young man had,we can end this scourge.
