A border battle is continuing to bubble between the states as the Prime Minister seeks to create a more nationally consistent border plan at today's National Cabinet meeting. Scott Morrison largely allowed states to determine what their border strategies would be as they worked to contain the spread of coronavirus, but frustration has grown among residents and businesses eager to begin moving interstate.

Qantas CEO Alan Joyce yesterday claimed border closures were politically motivated and called for greater clarity around intrastate and interstate travel to ensure the economy, namely in the tourism and aviation sector, could recover. NSW and Qld established a bubble for border town residents that required free movement for work and family reasons but many farming families have found it difficult to gain exemptions to access property outside the bubble.

What about Australians stuck overseas?

Why there is no bubble between WA,SA,NT QLD and Tas with virtually zero community cases is a disgrace and poor leadership but those premiers.

Border battle beat up from economists. This is a Health issue where the economy just has to be second for now.

Again your tweeter can't spell. It is 'consistent' not 'consistant'. Did none of you finish high school? And we like the border closed in Qld, thanks. Not opening up just so qantas et al can make money.

A tear of his leadership? No he has no responsibility

Easing NSW-Vic border restrictions under consideration | Sky News AustraliaThe New South Wales government is considering lifting coronavirus restrictions at towns along the border with Victoria.\n\nNSW closed the border seven weeks ago as large scale community transmission began to re-emerge.\n\nThe shutdown has had far reaching economic and social consequences in the area, with some locals unable to attend work or visit family.\n Won't that shift the problem... Why Hydroxychloroquine can save life? Why none of the CCP officers gets the virus? Border closure 'impacting communities and economic activities' | Sky News AustraliaTasmanian Senator Claire Chandler says Australia needs to relax border restrictions when it’s appropriate to do so because the country should be trying to get back to normal as soon as possible. \n\n“The best way for businesses to be able to operate as they were before, is for conditions to be set in which they can operate as they were before,” Ms Chandler told Sky News host Chris Kenny. \n\n“As we’re working through discovering more about coronavirus, how it impacts people, how it’s transmitted within the community, I think we as an Australian community need to learn, to an extent, how to live with this virus, and understand what that means for business.”\n\nImage: News Corp Australia Border restrictions killing economic activity, tourism, travel, family reunions, and keeping Qantas stranded on the ground !
