Prime Minister Scott Morrison is repeating his long-held view that if developing countries like China and India don’t act on climate change, there’s no point having tougher targets in Australia, Political Editor Andrew Clennell says.

It comes after Mr Morrison and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson agreed that emissions reduction should not come at the cost of jobs in either Australia or the UK and shouldn't increase household costs, but should rather focus on technology. “Scott Morrison made it quite clear today that Australia sets its own targets,” Mr Clennell said. “He argues if China and India don’t act, and he argues they could through technology, there’s no point having tougher targets in Australia.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell See a real Leader wouldn’t be saying that, they’d Lead by example. NotALeaderJustALiberal

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell In a recent study, Australia was ranked 61st out of 61 countries on climate policy. We're already behind the actions of China and India, and not even pretending to try.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Wise decision

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell You can only lead from the front ScoMo.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Calling China “developing country”? China has already committed to zero emissions by 2060...our coal exports will dramatically do down with both China and Japan heading towards zero emissions. We better start restricting our economies fast!!

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Climate Change is just a sweeping generalisation, and has no accurate values. Australia’s contribution to CO2 is only a token amount anyway 🤠

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Really: Combating climate change is a global responsibility And it does not take place without the solidarity of all countries And according to the popular proverb: 'One hand does not clap.'

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Agree!

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Pathetic

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell He is correct.... wake up people. The whole bloody World has to play its part. Stop pretending it doesn't and Australia can do it all alone. Stop being so bloody stupid.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell China are way ahead of us on climate and neither are developing. We on the other hand are a 3rd world country. Run by corruption.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell agree

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell 👍to ScoMo, the only poly who has a “head on his shoulders”. With today’s technology windmills & solar is a criminal SCAM. Aust not to use coal, but to sell coal to China, so Aust buy windmills & solar from China, does not make sense. Aust must start building power stations now.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell are you saying because other countries are doing the wrong thing it is ok for us to not bother

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Imbecile. He’ll be Long Gone when Australia gets Left Behind and In the Shit, because of Morrison and his Travelling Luddite Troupe and their Fear of the 21st Century!

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Not when Biden wins Scotty from Marketing will quickly fall into line! 😊

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Modi is his mate that’s why

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Is there a more inadequate leader for the times we live in than this? No vision, no direction, nothing. Except corruption and a total lack of responsibility for anything at all except photo shoots involving a Bunnings job. There is that 🤦‍♂️

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Regardless of what other countries are doing, as a teenager I'd look out over Botany Bay in the afternoon, and on a bad day there would be a dirt ring of smog. Now it's all day every day. No-one talks about air quality. How about we reduce emissions for ourselves?

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell My god he is an imbecile.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Pathetic. We need someone to lead us to a better future. Mr Morrison isnt up to it. But gee, he can build a cubby house while a pandemic is ravaging our state.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Theres no point in anyone doing it. Scam.central

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Where else is he going to get millions of dollars from? He can't just steal it from the taxpayer. Oh wait...

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell This is the classic case of dumb and dumber 😂 ScottyFromMarketing for making such RIDICULOUS comment. The SkyNewsStupidity for thinking this a news worthy comment 😂😂😂 NotALeaderJustALiberal

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Totally agree. Unless the big polluters lift their game, it is all over.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell So let’s make it a race to the bottom then shall we ? What a moron he is.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell They are acting though (Chinese emissions per capita stopped rising in 2013) so what is he talking about.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell What a ridiculous statement. Scotty needs to go.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell WTF Happened to SHOWING LEADERSHIP? When did we start following India & China's lead? This statement makes one thing clear. ScottMorrisonMP is no leader! auspol

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Finally a Prime Minister that has the guts to stand up to this climate change crap that only city people seem to be obsessed with. Australia has been blessed with the best coal deposits in the world so the country needs to keep using it and forget about useless CC targets.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell China is not a developing country we are not stupid nor is India you political pundits need to drop the BS Bovine Waste we don’t give advantages to nations like China and India seriously nuclear powers navy’s that makes ours look like a tinker toy collection technology advanced

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Should be embarrassed Scotty stop the votes Called out by Britain’s PM for inaction on climate !!!

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Real leaders know it is ok and right to set the example even if they are alone. The shoe fits, SM is no leader, just a party politician.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Scott Morrison is a buffoon. You lot are buffoon enablers. ThisIsNotJournalism boycottmurdoch

BK6785 ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Totally agree 👏🏻👏🏻

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell That's the nub of it. This gutless ponce of a PM feels it's appropriate for a first world nation like us, with one of the worst per capita carbon emissions in the world, to fail to show leadership to the rest of the world. He puts us in a position of weakness. ClimateCrisis

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Tend to agree

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell China is acting on climate change. Per capita, its emissions are lower than ours.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Obviously and overwhelmingly correct. China increases its emissions annually more than our total emissions. Global Energy Agency.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Dark ages.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Hmm I think I won’t pay any more tax. The impact of me not paying has virtually no impact

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell So scrap the stupid targets then. 😉

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Another string to his bow FossilFueledMorrison Goes with LiarFromTheShire ScottyFromMarketing ScottyTheBully ScomoAgedCareDeaths scottyfrombunnings

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell 1. China has committed to 0 carbon emissions by 2060 2. China’s emissions are still lower per capita than most western counties. 3. India has pledged 30-35% reduction by 2030. 4. In 2019 600 mil people voted for a PM who pledged to tackle climate change. 5. We’re being lied to.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Wah wah... I want my dummy....

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Murdoch is a son of a bitch

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell He's just so very mediocre in his vision. Not a statesman, not a leader, just a mediocre man NotALeaderJustALiberal

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell If big corporations don't pay tax there's no point me contributing

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Where is the leadership in that statement by our PM ScottMorrisonMP. Our PM is not a leader and if we are concerned about the future we need to vote this current LNP out before it is to late

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell That’s a child’s argument. You either want Australia to be a good global citizen or you don’t. As always $ comes before people.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Sure, so China is acting on climate change pursuing an actual plan to reach net-zero emissions.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell What if climate change isn't real and we try to make a better world for no reason?!?

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Long-held, incorrect view. UK: 'pick up your game, ScoMo'. Japan: 0 emissions by 2050. China: 0 emissions by 2060. If Biden wins, what then? Any leader of Australia who doesn't act on fossil fuels now is either dangerously blinkered or corrupt or both.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Scomo is not fit to be PM.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Maybe try leading by example to increase pressure than finger pointing and blaming. This government is absolutely useless.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Yes, pass the buck Scomo. Seems like it’s the only marketing tactic he ever picked up.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell So unless all the top earners and corporates start paying tax there is no point low income earners paying tax.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell If there is corruption in other countries, it doesn’t make sense for ScottyFromMarketing to implement a FederalICAC and he may as well keep on rorting the system.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell About time Scomo. We as a country have shot ourselves in the foot over a few crack pot tree huggers. How could we ruin our energy system & drive away investors just to look good to other countries. They don't give a toss about us we have become a laughing stock. More coal power👍

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Good! That WILL cost him the next election. See ya.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell We could stop supplying all these mining coal gas WATER to China ECT keep most of it hear for Australians but can we afford that can’t we concentrate on giving thousands jobs bye improving ALL power plants to be redone to purify 80%or more of the pollution

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Except they are acting. China has a zero catching target by 2060. Japan by 2050. Australia is going to be left behind with no new technology investment and coal that nobody wants very soon. If we want future prosperity we should be investing in clean technology now.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell We should be aiming for renewable energy because it is cheaper, even if he couldn't care less about the climate.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell We are among the highest emitters of CO2 per capita 👏 at least we're first at something Morrison is COMPLETELY missing the potential to produce and export green technologies manufactured here in Australia. Would prefer us to be leeched off of by his mates in Coal.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell So our PM subscribes to the 'Aw mum! All the other kids are doing it' style of (not)leadership. This is the approach of someone who's given up or never intended to try.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell LEADERSHIP 🙄

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell 💯 percentile SCOMO. ScottMorrisonMP AlboMP

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell He's 'soft Trumping' it.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell ScottyFromMarketing spinning his bullshit once again.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Just lead please. Increasingly you come across as a man of no substance. No spine. No conviction. Lead. That’s what you were elected to do

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell What else do you expect from scottyfromarketing?

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell It’s ok Greta going to paddle to China and tell them to change their ways

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell What an absolute cop out 🤨

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Exactly.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Scott Morrison, you call yourself a leader?

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell ScottMorrisonMP will still be saying that when the last life boats are despatched from the Titanic

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell It’s just a coincidence that China is working on renewables at a fast rate. They can build a hospital in a week. India may be another matter. He simply did not want to single them out. Again with the China bashing. Classic diversions.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Maybe we should think about hydrogen production using solar power. This would serve both as storage and as an export good. Also, why is elonmusk building a mega factory in Germany and not AUS?

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell I thought these guys were supposed to be aspirational?

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Build more HELE power stations!

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell If someone shits beside the toilet and not in it, we shouldn’t bother with toilets anymore?

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Finally, you got the point!

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Yeah, that excuse doesn’t fly anymore Scotty. China has committed to a net zero target, you haven’t. You’re government is making Australia a global pariah.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell What a piss poor way of looking at fixing our climate problems.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell ScottMorrisonMP is a coward

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell HEAR, HEAR, well said. Now hold your nerve against the leftie/green handwringers and get us out of this ridiculous UN/Paris farce

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell 'Awww, but that guy over there got two wowwy pops, i want two!' That's you ScottMorrisonMP, that's how you sound.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Correct.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Why don’t we all just shit in the streets when it’s fine in other countries.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell If other blokes don't stop beating up their wives, why should I?

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Hate to agree with Mr Sleepy, but he's right.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell So Murdoch hasn't given him a target yet

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Zero thought given, and its not surprising with scooter Fkn fruitcake 🤪

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell Today UK PM advised ScottMorrisonMP to lift his game re emissions and commit. Scott replied that he will seek advice from BrianCHouston & Jesus before he moves.

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell ‘I don’t pick up litter mate.’

ScottMorrisonMP aclennell How about doing the right thing for us all. Set a good example. What would Jesus do Scott?
