The Motley Fool’s Scott Phillips expects Victorians to “rush” back to the shops and restaurants, which is good news for the national economy.

From 11:59pm on Tuesday, cafes, pubs, restaurants and retail can reopen and the rules limiting the public to only four reasons to leave home have been scrapped. Premier Daniel Andrews announced the decision on Monday after the state recorded zero coronavirus cases over a 24 hour period.

“The rest of the economy is doing reasonably well and if we add Victoria back to the mix, finally, then hopefully it’s a bit of a boost to the national economy,” Mr Phillips told Sky News. “If you’re an optimist, the half glass full view is that growth and success elsewhere can now be added to by Victoria. “Really good news for the national economy and the national picture.”

Victoria Police and Andrews Government are ‘going to war against their own people’ | Sky News AustraliaFormer Victorian Australia Day Ambassador Alma Besserdin has told Sky News she resigned from her post because the state of Victoria at the moment made her feel she was back in war-torn Bosnia.\n\nMs Besserdin is the founder and director of Wimmigrants, a group which helps professional female immigrants achieve careers and integrate, and for her work she was made a Victorian Australia Day Ambassador by Premier Daniel Andrews.\n\nShe has now written a letter of resignation to the premier outlining how she feels ashamed to represent a government that is not representing the people.\n\nMs Besserdin said her and other European immigrants have gone through the stage of “losing their human rights” due to civil wars, and now feel in Victoria that they are “going back to where we came from”.\n\n“I’m absolutely speechless with police,” she said.\n\n“The last time I saw police like this with semi-automated pistols … (was) in Bosnia before I left, that was full-on war equipment.\n\n“Why (do) police need to be fully equipped like they (are) going to war?\n\n“Now I understand, they are going to war against their own people.”\n Definitely NoBeersForNewsCorp ThisIsNotJournalism Hi Sky News. 'Forgotten fundamentalists' continue their plans 'to destroy us and our way of life' | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Cory Bernardi says while the world is distracted by “endless pressing demands of today”, the forgotten Islamic fundamentalist fanatics continue their plans “to destroy us and our way of life”.\n\n“That is something we simply cannot afford to overlook,” he said. \n\n“Perhaps you recall back in January 2015, some Islamic fanatics stormed the HQ of a French satirical magazine and slaughtered 12 people. \n\n“The victims crime was that they dared work for an outlet that dared post cartoons of Mohammed.\n\n“Apparently, we were all Charlie Hebdo back then, marching for freedom of speech, expression and tolerance. \n\n“Then apparently it all got too hard for anyone to deal with, so the government stopped talking about the problem, the media pretty much stopped covering the problem and the rest of us punters, well many of us presumed the problem had all gone away. \n\n“Unfortunately, the problem of Islamic fundamentalism and the fanatics behind it haven’t gone away. They haven’t even gone dormant.”\n \nMr Bernardi said every week since the Charlie Hebdo incident, there had been an average of one terrorist attack attributed to Islam fundamentalists. \n\nThese attacks have occurred all around the globe, even here in Australia, he said. \n\n“Just last week, a French school teacher was beheaded because he dared to discuss the concept of free speech and expression,” Mr Bernardi said. \n\n“His crime? Using a picture of Mohammed as an example, in a class containing Muslim children. \n\n“There was little outcry over the killing, no global march of solidarity…. just another victim of the forgotten fundamentalism taking root across the world. \n\n“A couple of months ago, a jihadi video, urging sneak arson attacks to create bushfires in Australia was uncovered. The aim was to strike fear in the populace and cripple ‘disbelieving governments’ .\n\n“While the world is distracted by the endless pressing demands of today, the forgotten fundamentalists continue their plans to corybernardi corybernardi Who? corybernardi yup/ fanatics never sleep..... shestokas BristolComSense V_of_Europe FRANCE24 pwafork Charlie_Hebdo_ BruhnRose
