PM hits out at Queensland over 'tragic' case of man blocked from seeing dying dad

after travelling from the US to visit Mr Kilian's dying father in Queensland.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison, in a letter shared online overnight, chided Queensland authorities for their handling of the situation, saying Mr Kilian had done "everything you possibly can" to see his dying father. Frans Kilian, 80, was moved to hospital last week as his pancreatic cancer worsened. "I know what an important time this is for you and that you can never get these days back," he said in a letter to Mr Kilian dated June 22."However, the Australian Government does not have authority to step in and provide exemptions from hotel quarantine for travel into Queensland. Under our federation, these decisions are made by the Queensland Government.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian previously asked her counterparts to show compassion on border exemptions, calling for decisions about reuniting families to be based on "human dignity".

Whilst these fat cats pass the buck another family goes through misery just to have one last hug. This country has gone to shit.

So the fact they are vaccinated and came back with 3 negative tests and hired a private plane to visit is still not good enough? Not a great argument for vacations is it.

Why is AlboMP doing nothing? approves of this deliberate act by QLD ALP to cause misery and suffering on a dying man. 1st Qld celebrates denying urgent medical support to a child, then rejects a mother from seeing prem baby, now rejects a dying man his last wish.

PM has already granted compassionate approval to come to Australia, that is why they are in HQ in Sydney. It is the allegedly people first party, ALP that rejoices in its power to inflict premeditated misery and suffering. Do something gutless AlboMP this is your party.

Waited until the last minute to try and enter the country. Could of tried coming here months ago but didn't. Quarantine is mandatory so no sympathy from me.

Australia has dispossessed its own citizens abroad using laws designed primarily to cover the government’s own failure to provide sufficient vaccine relief. Many elderly / vulnerable are forcibly separated from family; just awful. Falling far behind the rest of the world

They already had an exemption to travel and knew there there was a 14 day quarantine. I lost my dad last year I had to go out of my way to move my dad to the state I live in so we could be in reach if anything happened. we were on one of the last flights out of qld b4 lockdown

Imagine if the Federal Government had taken up Pfizers offer in July last year. We all would have been vaccinated in January and outbreaks wouldn't be an issue. But Morrison jumped the queue and headed off on a pub crawl in the UK whilst we had outbreaks

Australia has gone from the model for coping with covid, to one of the biggest basket cases in the world.
