PM considering costs of Victoria's proposed quarantine facility | Sky News AustraliaPrime Minister Scott Morrison has welcomed the Victorian government’s proposal for a purpose-built quarantine facility north of Melbourne but warned the Commonwealth had yet to take costs into consideration. \n\n“There are question marks as to the investment the Commonwealth would be required to put in place but we’ll look at that in good faith,” he said. \n\nThe facility – which would be built in Mickleham – would operate similarly to the Northern Territory’s Howard Springs quarantine facility – with one story, cabin-style accommodation and food and medical services available on site.\n\nThe Victorian government wanted to $200 million from the federal government for an initial 500-bed facility, and a further $700 million for an expanded 3,000-bed facility. \n\nThe state government pledged $15 million for planning which was already underway. \n\nIf the Commonwealth granted the proposal the green light, the quarantine facility could be operating by the end of the year. \n ScottMorrisonMP 🤦🏻‍♂️ ScottMorrisonMP Yeah! Morrison hasn't had time to plan finances for quarantine facilities yet, wherever they're meant to be built. After all, it's only been over a year ... ScottMorrisonMP Yea.. that's important. There must be a cost benefit analysis done before you bring back your own.

PM urged to build cabin style quarantine facility | Sky News AustraliaDoctors and crossbench MPs are urging Prime Minister Scott Morrison to build cabin style quarantine facilities as a way to repatriate Australians who are trapped overseas. \n\nDarwin’s Howard Springs facility is being held up as the best model because of its access to fresh air but Mr Morrison is also seriously looking at Victoria’s proposal to build a 3,000-bed facility north of Melbourne. \n\nThis comes as Northern Territory Chief Minister Michael Gunner confirmed the COVID cases in Howard Springs have dropped from 41 to 35 but are still not low enough to start returning or repatriating Australians. \n ScottMorrisonMP Ahh yeah. The question is should have he needed doctors and crossbench MPs to batter him or should have the idiot been able to figure it out for himself and already at least be well into the planning stage? ScottMorrisonMP Should have done it a year ago. Hotels in the centre of cities, was only going to be a temporary measure at best. PM: Labor needs a training course on how to ‘engage in responsible spending’ | Sky News AustraliaPrime Minister Scott Morrison says the Labor Party doesn’t have the “skills or experience” to understand the budget process and “didn’t do a particularly good job” when it was last in government. \n\nShadow Health Minister Mark Butler asked the prime minister why he said the budget was “based on assumptions not policy settings”.\n\n“I know it is a mystery to those opposite about how budgets are put together and how they work,” Mr Morrison said.\n\n“There are assumptions in the budget that Treasury pulled together based on their assessment of the circumstances and that helps them with their assessment of estimates.\n\n“That's how budgets are done. I know it's been a long time since they've been in an expenditure review committee and they don't have the skills or experience to understand how budgets are put together.\n\n“It may be a mystery to them, perhaps we should offer them courses on budgets on how to put it together.\n\n“There are a lot of training courses we're providing. Maybe we should introduce a training course to the Labor Party, how to prepare a budget. How to engage in responsible expenditure to secure Australia's future.”\n ScottMorrisonMP Yes well apparently Scott thinks he’s is a giant among men when it comes to overseeing large amounts of money.. idk.. maybe he is ScottMorrisonMP 'Responsible spending' ?
