One of ScottMorrisonMP's closest advisers, Drought Coordinator-General Shane Stone has called on senior public servants to take a 50 percent pay cut as the government deals with the coronavirus crisis.

One of Scott Morrison's closest advisers, Drought Coordinator-General Shane Stone has called on senior public servants to take a 50 percent pay cut as the government deals with the coronavirus crisis. "You can't just say the words, you've got to mean it and one way the senior executive service at a federal, state and territory level can mean it, is to take a pay cut in their salary packages," he said.

Mr Stone, who earns a salary in excess of $500,000 a year, said it was a small sacrifice at a time when up to two million people could find themselves unemployed. "I'm up for it. One in, all in though," Mr Stone said. Meanwhile, a Darwin woman in her 50s - who recently returned from overseas - has become the latest case of COVID-19 in the Northern Territory, bringing its state total to 14.

MattCJChisholm ScottMorrisonMP 😡

ScottMorrisonMP So a person who used to be the Liberal Party President gets a new role that he didn't have to ppl for and is suckling at the tax payers goods to the tune of 500K per year. I will happily volunteer for a 50% pay cut if you gift me a 500k job.

SCH451 ScottMorrisonMP THE MONEY IS RUNNING ON EMPTY

ScottMorrisonMP Hang on, aren’t they working to capacity, like all others still working?

ScottMorrisonMP Lead by example. Politicians first, especially since there are no sitting days for 5 months

ScottMorrisonMP I’m all for those on the front line being paid in any gig but their are many including the senate and opposition that are not required so having been effectively stood down pay should ceased. I’m sure they know how to get the assistance

ScottMorrisonMP Given Parliament has sat for less than seven months in the last 18, the government should be taking the paycut! Pack of loafers!

ScottMorrisonMP Morrison government should have their pay cut by 50% - they forced a nearly 5 month shutdown of parliament. Zali Steggal and Rebekha Sharkie who voted with them likewise.

ScottMorrisonMP I take it Shane has already offered up 50% of his?

ScottMorrisonMP Do it. Share the pain

ScottMorrisonMP Yeah right, not likely to ever happen!

ScottMorrisonMP Politicians should be the ones to take a 50 percent pay cut

ScottMorrisonMP That’s a start ..but what about all the Fed / State govt Tourist Commission offices and Major Event agencies ?...what the Fark are they doing all day ?..there is no tourism or events to deal with in the next 6 months - bin them ...NOW !

ScottMorrisonMP What about politicians?

ScottMorrisonMP Could they take the limit off what they can earn?

ScottMorrisonMP Politicians should as well.

ScottMorrisonMP Yes must

ScottMorrisonMP Has he called on the PM to do the same?

ScottMorrisonMP Token gesture....even at 50% you're still earning 250k....wtf? Politicians entitle themselves to way too much. Your pay should be cut for the duration of this crisis buy at least 90% and when reinstated then to something more reasonable

ScottMorrisonMP 💯 %

ScottMorrisonMP It’s all a psyop. “Change my mind” 10 days with massive restrictions and still no paper. It’s in a warehouse, we produce and export 3x our paper needs. Next they will say we have to shut shop doors because of sick staff.... it’s all BS meant to drive Australia to some radical end

ScottMorrisonMP This actually doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Overall, it would do nothing for the budget and put further strain on the economy through reduced spending. Public servants are the ANZACs of our time just like doctors, nurses, police, etc.

ScottMorrisonMP Lol refuses to do it unless everyone does? What a jackass 😂😂😂

ScottMorrisonMP What is wrong with this picture?

ScottMorrisonMP Good luck with that but that’s a noble request. Sure, if corporate CEO’s can do that so can our polies but that will never happen

ScottMorrisonMP It's the Politicians taking a 4 month vacation who should be taking a 50% pay cut, the Australian economy would be millions per month better off.

ScottMorrisonMP *and politicians!

ScottMorrisonMP Only if all a Politicians, lobbyists, Mining execs, CEOs etc do first.

ScottMorrisonMP Surely, given the huge strain & long term repercussions on economy, unfounded restrictions on exploitation of natural resources must be lifted. Cheap coal energy & plentiful water (dams) can return industry, agriculture & nation to former wealth. theboltreport

ScottMorrisonMP What about the politicians. Let’s start there. Why should the rank and file lead the way when the bosses are still rorting the country.

ScottMorrisonMP What's happening in Australia at the moment with the public service is in direct conflict with our national anthem. We are going through a stress test and it's showing up some real weaknesses in our society. This will cause an on going division in our society. We must address it.

ScottMorrisonMP The one item when senior public servants need to step up and we are now calling for pay cuts? Try working 24x7 during a major crisis rather than throwing hand grenades you numpties.

ScottMorrisonMP No way they will agree. They are a bunch of koalas - totally protected.
