A new Labor policy aims to make childcare fees more transparent by forcing providers to report detailed information about their revenues and profits.

The policy has been designed to stop some childcare providers charging exorbitant fees for their services.

Mr Albanese said taxpayers were spending about $9 billion on the current childcare subsidy, but there was little oversight or public reporting of how this taxpayer money is spent. The government has committed to a $1.7 billion childcare subsidy boost for parents with two or more children in care, aiming to help more women back into work and lower the gender pay gap.But a fierce debate has erupted internally over the plan, with one member of the coalition wanting subsidies for live-in nannies on farms. Another described childcare as"outsourcing parenting".

This should be occurring now

The Potato won’t like this!

And what about political donations? Labour's lost of a few MPs through cash donations, might save them some issues with proper reporting.

Good! It seems like there’s rivers of gold in childcare, and with a relatively mediocre service provided.

This is fair enough in view of receiving government funds. Anyone, including Doctors, who receive Medicare funds should be transparent.

Need it in aged care pronto.

Not much help in reducing the fee. It’s all about supply and demand. Good running childcare centres are always in demand as working parents feel less guilty in sending their kids there.

Barnaby Joyce seeking to ‘drive a stake through the heart’ of Murray-Darling Basin Plan | Sky News AustraliaBarnaby Joyce has only been in his new job for 24 hours, but he is already seeking to “drive a stake through the heart” of the Murray-Darling Basin Plan, according to Labor frontbencher Mark Butler.\n\nThe Nationals have broken from the Liberals in a Senate vote which may upset the Murray-Darling Basin Plan.\n\nThe plan aims to set limits on the amount of water which can be taken from the Basin each year, so as to leave enough for rivers, lakes and wetlands as well as the plants and animals that depend on them. \n\nNationals senators have put amendments to legislation which would effectively change the Basin plan.\n\nIt comes just one day after Barnaby Joyce was sworn in as leader of the Nationals and Deputy Prime Minister.\n\nSpeaking to the media on Wednesday, Mr Butler said the deputy prime minister is seeking to “drive a stake” through the heart of the Murray-Darling Basin Plan.\n\n“It goes to show that you can’t trust the Coalition, you particularly cannot trust the National Party with the health of the Murray-Darling Basin.\n\n“Scott Morrison needs to come out today and urgently recommit to the Murray-Darling Basin Plan in full.”\n\nMr Butler also called for the water portfolio to be removed from the National Party and placed into the Liberals.\n Thank goodness the MDBP has been far to SA orientated with zero regard for the upper lakes system in NSW!
