Breaking: A new COVID-19 case in Byron brings an end to 14 days without community transmission of the virus in NSW. COVID19 coronavirus Brisbanelockdown

A person who attended the same venue as the bachelorette party that prompted health alerts in Byron Shire has tested positive to coronavirus, bringing an end to 14 days without community transmission of the virus in NSW.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian said the new case would prompt fresh restrictions on resident froms the Byron, Ballina, Tweed and Lismore shires until after the Easter long weekend. The Premier said she would advise people to not travel outside the four shires, and holidaymakers planning to travel to the area for the long weekend should “reconsider their plans”.

Household gatherings in the Northern Rivers region will be limited to 30 people, venue caps will return to the four-square-metre rule and masks will be mandated in retail stores, public indoor settings and on public transport. The restrictions follow a decision by the Northern Territory government to declare the Byron Shire a coronavirus hotspot on Wednesday morning, the first state or territory to reimpose travel restrictions on NSW.

The new case from the Byron Beach Hotel attended two venues in the Ballina region while infectious. NSW Health has asked anyone who attended the Henry Rous Tavern on Sunday from 1.20pm to 2.20pm or Ballina Golf and Sports Club’s pro shop between 2.25pm and 2.35pm on the same day to immediately come forward for testing.

Anyone who was in the area on Saturday and visited Boards in the Bay from 12.40pm to 12.45pm, Byron Bay Central Pharmacy from 1.05pm to 1.10pm, Main Street Burger Bar from 1.15pm to 1.20pm or Surf, Dive & Ski from 1.25pm to 1.30pm should immediately get tested and self-isolate until they receive a negative result., the second day of Greater Brisbane’s snap three-day lockdown prompted by a recent spate of local infections connected to two healthcare workers.

And that untested Asymptomatic Positive person goes to the Blues Festival .

Keep safe

I also wonder if Anastacia is going to close her border? For a virus that spread from her end of town? Wouldn't that be funny? 😂😂

Next minute, country shut down 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Only COVID? STD’s also I’m betting

Morrison is a danger to the Australian public

Learn from Taiwan. Impose a nationwide, perpetual public mask mandate even when there's zerocovid. This is a cheaper option to these annoying mini lockdowns/outbreaks.

Has anyone heard from Pete Evans or his neighbour Zac Efron? Hope they’re... haha... hope they’re ok

Advising people not to leave the area will have zero effect in restricting movement. For every person who heads the advice there will be two who think I’d best go to wherever before we are totally locked down

The 'Queensland tradie' was the stripper I assume
