Health Minister Greg Hunt says the elderly patients who received four times the recommended dose of the COVID-19 vaccine are doing very well and showing no side effects.

A man, 88, and a woman, 94, received the extra dosage at Holy Spirit Carseldine in Queensland. Health Care Australia investigated and found the doctor, who has since been stood down, had not completed the required training. Mr Hunt said the contractor has been put on notice of potential termination.

A 'sovereign vaccine' will 'provide the pathway out': Hunt | Sky News AustraliaFederal Health Minister Greg Hunt says a “sovereign vaccine” is the way forward to “saving” the country from the COVID-19 virus.\n\n“We’ve seen over 37 million cases (globally) this year alone - over 850 thousand lives lost. Whilst the numbers have dropped significantly since January - sadly we’ve seen an uptick in the last week', he said.\n\n“We need to be ever vigilant. That’s why our plan - in particular - of containment, of testing and tracing and distancing on top of our borders has been fundamental.\n\n'But we also have to continue with the vaccination program.”\n\nMr Hunt said the way forward would be helped immensely by the domestic production of a vaccine.\n\n“As we bring onboard a sovereign vaccine manufacturing capability - the likes which is available to few other countries - we give ourselves the capacity to vaccinate the nation, to provide that certainty and to provide that pathway out. \n\n“That is about saving lives and saving livelihoods.”\n GregHuntMP When you ignore science and act irresponsibly.
