Both major party leaders have made a last ditch effort to sway voters on the eve of the federal election.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison focused his efforts in regional Queensland on Friday, speaking in Flynn which is held by Liberal MP Ken O’Dowd with a margin of one per cent.

Meanwhile, Bill Shorten remained in Sydney, where he remembered former Labor leader Bob Hawke as a legacy who changed the shape of Australian politics. One day out from the federal election, a YouGov Galaxy poll shows the Coalition trailing Labor 49 to 51 on a two-party preferred basis.
