The deadline for its ruling is 6 May, which means it could even come the day after the vote. Whether a disqualification would then be retroactive is unclear.“I think an important part of the population would feel it was a scandal,” said Alvarado. “It would create a lot of people who distrust the electoral process, who assume fraud, as we’ve seen in Brazil and the United States.”
