During a pre-trial hearing for murder accused Rajwinder Singh, the Supreme Court hears that 24-year-old Toyah Cordingley had started a secret relationship with her podiatrist in the weeks before her death and believed her partner knew 'something was off'.

The new evidence emerged in a pre-trial hearing for Rajwinder Singh , the man accused of killing the 24-year-old on Wangetti Beach .

Mr Singh, who was charged with murder in March 2023, has not entered a plea but has maintained his innocence. The court heard evidence that Ms Cordingley had started a relationship with podiatrist Tyson Franklin and arranged to pick him up from Cairns Airport the night she died, but she never arrived. The court in Cairns heard Ms Cordingley and Mr Franklin met at a podiatrist appointment and "hit it off" just over two weeks before her death.

"He said that I seem different and asked if I was still happy, because he was scared of losing me and me finding someone else," the text message read.Under cross-examination, Mr Franklin admitted he had initially concealed the new relationship when questioned as part of the investigation. Mr Heidenreich told the court Jersey ran off and the pair spent hours looking for the dog, including driving to another friend's house nearby where Mr Cuman borrowed a torch.

He told the hearing the car was unlocked and he searched the beach about a kilometre north of the car park before calling a friend who suggested he call police. The pre-trial hearing has been adjourned until June 3 and the trial itself is scheduled to begin in Cairns in July.'The place hasn't been the same since': Toyah Cordingley's family emotional as hearing begins'I am the prime minister' should never be uttered by anyone.
