There is growing outrage over the sentence of convicted wife-killer Borce Ristevski, as prosecution bosses consider an appeal.Ristevski, from Melbourne, could be eligible for parole in five years. But with time already served, Ristevski could be out of jail in just over four-and-a-half years.
The Department of Public Prosecutions is currently reviewing Ristevski’s sentence and has 28 days to launch an appeal. Borce Ristevksi was charged with murder in 2017 after a lengthy police investigation but pleaded guilty to manslaughter in March after Justice Beale ruled murderous intent could not be proved.
One of the key factors in Justice Beale's sentencing was that he could not determine whether the offending was in the mid-or upper range. Ristevski has never revealed how his wife of 27 years died.
No ! Its a disgrace! This justice system corrupt!
Not enough at all
No
What a joke.
No. The sentence is too light for a crime like that and he was lying. I feel for their daughter.
No
No! That poor woman’s body was thrown into the bush to rot....what disgusting human could do that to someone he claimed to love and the mother of his child? I’m surprised the daughter doesn’t want better justice for her Mother.
How this was dropped to man slaughter is totally wrong. He coned the courts to get a lesser sentence and why does time served became part of the sentence.
No. We dont have a justice system here, we have a legal system and he played the system and won.
Our legal system is pathetic. It seriously makes me think about getting into crime, they say crime doesn’t pay but in Australia the consequences are so low. I say that crime does pay!!
No
Wait until women start killing their husbands. Then you'll see an increase in sentencing.
No justice for Karen at all he took her life in domestic violence and hid her body and lied he should get life for her life taken it is fuckin joke on the pitaful judgement he got he got away with murder the judge should have more balls and sentencevthis low life to life in jail
No!
Absolutely not. It’s a disgrace. It’s cold blooded killing by a loved one nonetheless. The justice system here is a joke.
No way
No.
How many NO NO NO’s are needed?
there is no justice in Australia! let's change the law and see if anyone gets away with murder.
DEFINITELY NOT!
Absolutely not! How can a woman's life be worth so little?
What about perverting the course of justice, hindering police etc justiceforkaren
It’s NOT GOOD ENUF!
No
Absolutely not!!!
NO WAY.
Drug Dealers get longer sentences- why ? Cause the government doesn’t get a cut.... beat & kill your wife & the Sentence is piss weak.... The system is broken
NO
Absolutely NOT disgraceful sentence
Hardly.
Manslaughter is effectively accidental death and Murder is premeditated & planned. For the husband to dump his wife's body and cover up the crime would indicate some premeditation. However the prosecutors may have had insufficient evidence to get a conviction for murder
good cuntry australia
It should be life for a life
No.
The judicial system is stuffed.9 yrs for a premeditated murder.Thats absolutely bullshit
Not a chance. That is not justice.
No. Soft sentence. He takes a life and gets less than the bus driver who hit a bridge
No
fkn skop should get death penalty
Hell no
No way
No wonder the criminals are roaming around happy because they know this sick laws r to protect them n not the victims . Just heart breaking for all the victims. Should change the name from justice to kiss criminals ass .
Definitely NOT!!
Not even close. ridiculous
NO!
NO it’s a joke
This is Australia n deal with it, sucking to see killer gets less than 10 years what a joke
No
The judge who decided upon this sentence Disgraceful
Definitely not
We do not know why he killed her do we
The sentence of just 9 years incarceration time is an outrage. It sends the wrong message to the community about the consequences of domestic violence.
It certainly was not!
No way.. what the hell is wrong with the justice system in this country.? It’s a bloody joke 🤬
Putrid human..and thats the judge
Bloke got 9 years sentence, think 6 years non parole, absolute shambolic as he has taken away someones life especially if that person is his own wife so no it's not justice.
Appeal appeal appeal this is bullshit doesn’t seem like her life was worth much
Disgraceful but not surprising how weak out justice system is!
No bloody way, there needs to be an appeal....
What a stupid question to ask.
Following on the heels of the 10 year one punch sentace handed down this week, Borce's sentence is grossly inadequate. His lies and deception count for nothing. So much for my thinking that the bar had been raised and precedence set. The judiciary are ignorant and arrogant.
No
No way, and I think the only reason he won’t say anything is I don’t believe he acted alone in this terrible crime.
So the 'judge' thinks he can be rehabilitated. Well, let him stay in jail, at the end of his sentence, until he is rehabilitated! 👍
The perfect murder, wait till all the evidence is destroyed and claim manslaughter. Her poor family
No absolutely not the justice system is a joke
No but the prosecutors obviously felt there was a chance he was going to be cleared of murder.
Not even close 😡
The judge should jailed for give this sentences he is not a responsible man Shane on the system again and again fail yo all of us is easier to be a murder a raper a child molestar tgat honest working citizen
No
NOt at all
Simply disgraceful
He should never be free. But neither is this a deterrent to others. I can, sickly, imagine others contemplating doing something similar and thinking: 'I'll probably only get six years...'
No
No, of course not. But every Australian citizen knows that justice is not what we think it SHOULD be.
No, than man deserves to be in jailforever. That poor daughter 🤦🏼♀️
Is Borce a mason?
In our town a young bloke in his 20s was kidnapped and driven to remote part of town where he was assaulted and then stabbed to death by four of his supposed friends . When they were arrested and faced court got let out on bail
Absolutely not.
If it was accidental why didn’t he call an ambulance? He bundled her into the boot and dumped her in the bush like an animal !!! .she was a loving Wife and Mum ...he is a deceitful lying bastard who clearly killed his wife and is showing no remorse..who is going to pay for this ?
Derrrrrr
LIFE4aLIFE
No, he lied and hid her body, still hasn't confessed to anything. Monster, should be at least 15 years.
Really..... is there anyone outside of Ristevski or his daughter, given the circumstances of this matter, truly believe that justice was served. One can only hope the real justice will be dished out inside......then ask the same question
Absolutely Not
No and Aus media also has a responsibility to not constantly report 'life sentence' These men will never serve life Robert Graham Thomas - sentenced - life in prison, PAROLE in 20 years / Gerard Baden-Clay - sentenced - life in prison, PAROLE in 15 years
Nope
You would probably get a higher sentence for not paying $1000 owed to the tax office.
Nothing surprises me in this country anymore
This is a call for mentally disturbed commenters to blossom.
No
Absolutely not.....this penalty is ridiculous for the scum.. law
No, most definitely Not! The judge’s “reasoning” that because the exact manner of how he killed her was not known dictated a sentence at the lower end? Boris’ sheer callousness in every other action & INaction should have counterbalanced that ‘reasoning’.
Pathetic hope he gets what he deserves in there
No
Plea bargaining for lighter sentences needs to stop aswell as manslaughter charges it's a joke it's murder these types of sentences are a constant in Australia yet the government does nothing pathetic
No
Definitely not. Our justice system is disgraceful
Clearly no. It’s the same bs. Slap on the wrist
Noooo
`No way Jose. The fact that he just dumper her body in the bush left to rot and then denied everything to his family, police etc showed that he had no remorse whatsoever. The only time he showed remorse was when he was caught. Guilty as hell!!! Give him life!!
No
This is absolutely disgusting. These judges should lose the right to ever judge again. We should use public opinion to sentence these animals. wheresthejustice
No.
NO
This just shows that murder is OK in Australia, you can lie, deceive, and treat your partner like garbage and the courts will give you a slap on the wrist....... Disgusting
Not at all. What price is a life hey!
No 😡😡😡
You get away with murder theses days and serve more time for doing a robbery..what a joke a life is a life should serve a life term..court law judges systems and government need to fix theses law and make big changes to protect the community..
No
Definitely not. This is a cold killing, then hiding of guilt. When will Justice for the victim be given the same consideration. The family suffers and he will be out, when his wife has no opportunity. The system is disgraceful.
It’s called getting away with murder
Dan Andrews need to change the state law regarding ‘plea bargaining’ for manslaughter. If the alleged perpetrator pleads guilty to ‘killing’ then they need a hefty sentence..... particularly domestic violence ! This bloke is a grub! Rehabilitation ... nah!
Man slaughter and murder obviously are two different things and treated by the courts differently. It was obviously a “deal” done by prosecutors to ensure a guilt plea. However the sentence seems very light. There should be an appeal to sentencing.
Dumb question
No... disgusting outcome...judges are so out of touch with the community
It’s an insult to Karen!
Not until the weak prick is put in the same cell as Matt Johnson!! And also chuck the judge in that same cell as well!!
Not at all
A Pathetic 6 years 😠😠😠
buried up to his neck in a field of fire ants would do
