Police in Queensland are hunting the person who befriended a teenager online before hacking her social media account and sharing images and recordings with her contacts.

Police then advised the girl to withdraw from that form of social media and to end all contact in the hope the predator would leave her alone."They were able to post and share images and recordings and texts, with all of this young girl's contacts, that were nothing short of despicable, highly inappropriate things," Senior Constable Smith said.

"From the online predator's point of view, they have a new opportunity to begin engaging with new children."It prompted police to contact the school and speak with students about cybersecurity.Parents can help combat predators "What social media forums are your children using right now? Do you know what they are doing?" he said.
