Group huddles, team high-fives and both parents cheering from the sidelines are off the cards for the foreseeable future, as the government prepares for the return of community sport

"The majority of these clubs are amateur clubs and run by people who do other things; volunteers," he said. "It's just about what is actually practical."

"I have mixed emotions about it," he said. "On the one hand, they're very keen to get out and run around and see their friends, but we are just really cautious.The Collier family are heavily involved with the Ryde Hunters Hill District Hockey Club and father Tim is concerned about how social distancing measures will be implemented.

"I have no idea how that is going to play out," Mr Collier said. "There are kids everywhere, parents everywhere [at the club]. How that is going to look with social distancing, I have no idea." "It takes so long to get it up and running ... it's just really important we take a cautious approach."
