Israel Folau’s four-year exile from Test rugby will end on Saturday when he starts for Tonga in a star-studded back line against Fiji in the Pacific Nations Cup.
It will cap a long and lonely period in the sporting wilderness for the former Kangaroo and John Eales Medallist, who settled out of court with Rugby Australia after suing the governing body for $14 million over his sacking. Kefu, a mainstay of the Wallabies 1999 World Cup-winning back row, said the controversial former Wallaby had been the ultimate professional since joining the Tongan group in Fiji.“He’s fitted into the group seamlessly, he’s just one of the boys,” Kefu said. “He’s a mature young man who goes about his business.”
