New Zealand has scrapped a controversial refugee policy which had been described as ‘racist’ by migrant activists.

The “family link” policy restricted refugees from Africa and the Middle East, unless they already had family living in New Zealand.

It comes as the Labour government unveils a three-year refugee policy, in which New Zealand’s long-standing offer to Australia to resettle 150 refugees per year remains open. Image: Getty

Concerns raised over the price of new drumlines in Qld | Sky News AustraliaPlans to introduce smart drumlines across Queensland could be costly and potentially dangerous for swimmers, according to a new report.\n\nThe Palaszczuk government commissioned a report into smart shark drum lines weeks before their lethal shark program was thrown out by Queensland courts.\n\nThe solution, used in Western Australia and New South Wales, has been deemed too expensive and not safe enough to be a viable option for Queensland. \n\nThe study's findings come after Queensland removed drum lines from 27 beaches along the state’s coast following a federal court ruling that found sharks are not to be euthanized on the Great Barrier Reef, instead they must be caught and released. Makes more sense to string electrical impulse lines across the floors of the bays/areas to constantly operate 24/7 to scare away predators . Is this not feasible? Sharks have been here for millions of years and man only tens of thousands of years hey stupid humans learn how to communicate with your older neighbours
