Jacinda Ardern has announced the date of this year's New Zealand election. The country will go to the polls on September 19 to determine whether the Labour Party leader will remain in office for a second term.

Ms Ardern promised a "relentlessly positive" campaign, free from misinformation. The General election will run alongside referendums on the legalisation of recreational cannabis, as well as legalising euthanasia. Image: Getty
