Police from the Northern Territory's Crime Division are in the Arnhem Land community of Gunbalanya examining the circumstances that led to the death of an 11-year-old child yesterday.

Detectives have travelled to a remote Top End community to investigate the death of an 11-year-old child.

The child died in the Arnhem Land community of Gunbalanya, 240 kilometres east of Darwin, a police spokeswoman said."Detectives from the Crime Division have attended a West Arnhem community to investigate the circumstances," police said in a statement. No further details have been provided, and it is not known if the death is being treated as suspicious.
