Chief Medical Officer PKelly_CBR says the AstraZeneca vaccine remains an “extremely important” component of the vaccine rollout after it was revealed a 52-year-old woman's death was 'related' to the jab.

Chief Medical Officer Professor Paul Kelly says the AstraZeneca vaccine remains an “extremely important” component of the vaccine rollout after it was revealed a 52-year-old woman's death was "related" to the jab. Professor Kelly said the woman was administered the vaccine a couple of weeks ago and developed an "extremely rare" blood clotting event.

“It remains an incredibly, extremely important part of our vaccine rollout with our large numbers of doses that are available here in Australia,” he said. “It is absolutely key in relation to us becoming safe from COVID as a population here in Australia, and that remains the case. “I will point out that this remains an extremely rare event to get these serious clots but when they happen, as we have seen in this case, it can have tragic consequences.

PKelly_CBR Because it's cheap.. bet you the lnp had Pfizer. Astra sent me to hospital, bustards.

PKelly_CBR Pfizer or nothing.

PKelly_CBR All Australians have a right to choose their vaccine. For many that will be AZ now or Pfizer later. But if the latter the consequence is longer wait & possible increased chance of infection, higher probability of more lockdowns and longer time before opening international borders

PKelly_CBR I'm 52. Fit as a fiddle. The AZ vaccine is banned in over a dozen countries. I'm happy to wait for an alternative. I don't care how small the chance is statistically that I'll have a problem. I'm a father to 4. That's the number I care about.

PKelly_CBR How many have died within a month of receiving the vaccine? You know, the same metric you used for 'died after testing positive'.

PKelly_CBR Bring in Sputnik V. It comes with high praise. Bring in Sinopharm for the Chinese community. Bring in the French one too. Only with choice in our choice driven society will an informed public have confidence. Otherwise we're feeling rail roaded towards an inferior product..

Second woman dies from extremely rare blood clots likely linked to AstraZeneca vaccineA second woman has died from an extremely rare form of blood clots that was likely linked to the AstraZeneca vaccine. This only feeds vaccine hesitancy. So many people I know over 50 do not want the AZ vaccine - they want Pfizer I don’t understand when they say that the AstraZeneca vaccine is only recommended for 50+ year olds because of the chance of blood clots. It’s as if the government is saying ‘We don’t care if the elderly die’
